I also drastically reduced feeding, so I have not been overfeeding and I do 50% water change every Wednesday. They featherfins are more active but cichlids are less active. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    White particles in the water?

What are all the white specks/particles in my tank, I can not get rid of them, I used carbon, I am currently trying polyfilter, but no improvement. Someone said diatoms, but have no clear answer on how to get rid of them, cut my lighting to half the time and seems like it is no improvement, if...

    Need help fast water quality

Looking a lot better, but make sure never clean anything with tap water only with the tank water being changed. Cause the tap water has chlorine and chloramines, even if undetectable by tests. This killed your beneficial bacteria kn filter, so you had to basically do a mini recycle on your tank...

    Need help fast water quality

So that instead of removing them everyday with a water change, your beneficial bacteria can still utilize them and recolonize. But still do weekly water change, unless it gets too bad, then do it twice a week to control while recycling. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

Can giant danios live with lake Malawi cichlids?

I doubt it just due to the aggression of cichlids from that lake, especially if mbuna. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    What is this?

This stuff is spreading, I guess it is brown algae growing on these rocks, really bad on small one, just starting to show on large rock. What can I do to get rid of it, or is it okay to keep and possibly beneficial? Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

It is continually dissolving I think, but not 100% that this is the cause, but this rock doesn't lower pH correct? It s was sold to me as a no affect and if any as a buffer or possibly sight pH raiser. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Rock ID

Guy at LFS says that it is limestone, but not sure just wondering if anyone else knows what it is. If it is limestone is that little particles I have in my water coming from that breaking down. The water is always crystal clear except for these little specs that I am assuming is dissolving off...

    Filter

Got answer, it is detritus that is just building up in the sand bed and when I move the sand it gets into filter floss. I just need to do a thorough clean of sandbed in a day or two cause I just did a water change today. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    What is this?

Its bad, a quick suck won't make a difference. I just did a water change today too 50%. So I'll get it next time, I think it is just building up in the sandbed. I usually just hover the siphon over the aragonite, but gonna get in there next time to make sure I get a good bit. Sent from my Z970...

    What is this?

K thanks that's what I figured, and it is bad so I guess I'll have to change or at least clean out my filter floss every day or so until it is under control. That is probably why my nitrates stay about 20-40 except the first day or so after water change. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice...

    What is this?

This is coming off my filter floss, so I am guessing that this is organic waste and is not beneficial bacteria because it is settling to the bottom of my at the moment test tank/ cycling/soon to be son's room tank lol. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Filter

Every time I do anything to my filter, I get this large amount of what looks like dust that disperses over my while tank, is this just beneficial bacteria being pushed out and than sucked back into the filter? It always clears back up for the most part, there will still be a small amount left...

Yeah I just gotta get some more rocks to attach to, but what should I use to attach the annubias, I have heard suoerglue as long as 100% cyanoacrylate and then thread or fishing line, until the roots attach naturally to rock. Sent from my Z970 using Aquarium Advice mobile app
