    Wrasse?

I had asked but they didn't know... the fish has since died or they got rid of it :( lemme look at your links.. I remember thinking it resembled a wrasse... but I didn't know what kind... It was a rainbow orange purple type color now as I remember more vividly. **edit** yea I looked through...

    Wrasse?

There is a orangish fish at the local restaraunt in their SW tank that has 2 front fins it flaps like crazy to move its body around and my wife calls it a broken butted fish because the way it swims around it looks like its butt is sagging so the whole fish creates a half moon type shape heh I...

Worm like Coral with flow type head

I don't like the idea of chemicals :( I will manually remove it though... how do I do it? I use a turkey baster and blow all I can off and change my skimmer cup often.

Worm like Coral with flow type head

I just rechecked the water levels and they are still in ideal range even with the weakened foxface... I feel so bad for the foxface as his back is bent from being stuck to the intake but he is still breathing and separated from everything else now... I saw a goldfish do the same thing and he...

Worm like Coral with flow type head

heck the reason I got the foxface was because many said it would eat the green algae up. I want the green algae gone... there is way to much of it. it caught me off guard when the LFS said the corals were bad he said it sounded like a type of feather duster.. shrug. there are tons of empty...

Worm like Coral with flow type head

These corals have been there for awhile they are just growing so I mentioned them at the LFS... My parameters are all ideal according to my strips and my saltlevels are where they always are.. I was told by a friend the turbos were dying because loss of light fended them less food... they...

Worm like Coral with flow type head

I have been fighting off green hair algae for quite awhile even with the water parameters looking good, lowering the light to almost no light besides ambiant daytime light (which is pretty low) and lowering feeding.. Due to the lower light a lot og my turbo snails have died. Now the LFS after...

    Mature tank getting algae

I wasn't speaking of LFS folks etc... I was speaking about some of the folks here at Aquarium Advice and ReefCentral who have said it was best to use RO/DI for all tanks fresh and salt... Perhaps they are adding something to the RO water to make it healthy for the fish? Perhaps running lightly...

    Mature tank getting algae

Thats odd... Why do people and websites recommend RO units for freshwater and saltwater then? Also Is this true with only RO/DI or RO units with out the DI stage? This will make things easier as I will only have to run enough water per month for my SW tank and not enough for my 2 fw tanks and my...

    Mature tank getting algae

Thats odd I don't know why someone would tell you that. RO/DI water is just filtered water that has been cleansed of its harmful chemicals. Most people say they think ALL aquariums should use RO water but people have been keeping tanks for years without them so they won't argue to much. RO/DI...

    water changes with sand

They are moving a whole bunch. There are white microscoping bugs that are moving on the glass and a patch of microscopic spiders... I just read a thing about saltwater tanks and it said that you may be lucky enough to get shrimp, bugs, spiders, and maybe even a star fish hitch a ride in on youir...

    Powerheads

In the middle height wise or width wise? or both? Currently they are upper middle at the back of the tank pointed up 45 degrees.

    Powerheads

Ok I know to have 2 powerheads that can move about 1100 to 1200g for a 75 gallon tank and I know they should be aimed upward at about 45 degrees and I know the powerheads should face each other. Should both powerheads be near the top of the water to create ripples? Or should one be lower and...

    Mature tank getting algae

Hey fishyfanatic!! Yes the tank was switched to a cichlid tank about september... It was danio/rainbow shark tank before that. The algae for the most part is just on the lower glass and wipes off easily. I would bet using all RO/DI water should help out greatly. However I just wanna check up...

    Mature tank getting algae

I have been getting quite a bad build up of algae lately and nothing is different. The tank has been up for quite awhile and the cichlids seem to be fine besides the ugly brownish algae lightly on the lower glass and all over the decorations. I have recently started a saltwater tank so all...

    water changes with sand

I had dropped a couple frozen shrimp in there and My levels are all ok right now.. However, I have noticed small little bugs I guess you would say walking on the glass. Also there is one small patch of almost microscopic spider like bugs on the glass also. Is this bad or normal? Would it...

Ok thats what I figured... I was about to do a water change... My crabs are doing great and moving along everywhere in the tank... It has been what 3 weeks now and I have added fully cured LR and there was no spike, the crabs have been in there just fine now for a week and the levels are still...

    Stocking 75 gallon

keep in mind I have told my son we will be stocking this tank over the course of a year or year and a half. We will be in no rush in adding fish and I have told him if we have to add 1 fish per month then so be it. The fish will be monitored and stable before we add anymore. In a years time...
