Bacteria eating amonnia have begun to take hold and are producing nitrites as a byproduct. Your still in the middle of your cycle. Keep up the water changes and you should be fine

Update. Im currently treating my tank with jungle buddies medication and is already shown a large reduction of the build up on his face, and his eyes are totally clear now.

Hi I have a freshwater sand goby. He's in brackish water and had been fine. But recently I noticed he keeps putting his head out of the water and there's like a clearish white build up on his face. Idk if it's just a slime coat or if it's a disses or fungus or something. Please help. Thanks...
Is it possible it could have been sick or had a parasite from when you got it? That a good possibility especially if it was wild caught.

I have a brackish tank at up with an SG of 1.010 and I achieve this with instant ocean at 1 cup of salt to 5 gals of treated water.

Hi there people I'm looking for fish, inverts and plants to add to my tank. There's only 1 problem I have a g.tile in a brackish tank so that narrows the possibilities. I'm sure if the inverts are to small they will be food in seconds. I would like to add a puffer but something a lil more odd...

Ok thanks I really appreciate the ease of mind you have granted me. Once it cycles I planned on getting a gsp and a brackish catfish to help keep the bottom clean. Do you think it would be advisable to add both once it does cycle?

Yeah I agree on getting a bigger tank and I plan to but it seems like he don't mind having tank mates. I left the feeders in for a week till they stayed getting brown spots on there body from the salt water then I removed them since he only ate one and im around enough to feed him the fresh...
Well I plan on getting another puffer for this tank cuz I think they will be fine with the eel. At first the eel was inquisitive about the puffer but after a few minuets lost interest. Plus the puffer can puff up bigger than his mouth if need be. And im getting a catfish to help clean the bottom...
Yeah I I think the gsp died due to the cycle he was undamaged from the bite and live for a week after with no ill affect. I use feeders to but he dissent like them much lol he prefers shrimp and salmon

I use instant ocean but I don't know the difference between brands and was thinking of changing the brand soon because of price. Any advice on salt?
