Never had a hex tank before, the layout is much different from regular rectangle tanks... Unfortunately I'm stumped on what i feel comfortable putting in it... Any recommendations would be great!

Smaller fish species that don't need a lot of swimming space or species that don't like to swim around a lot. Hex tanks are nice to look at but really impractical when it comes to most fish species. ( I got a free 27 Hex sitting dry on my porch for around 5 years now because they are just so impractical :ermm: )
Having said all that, the species I would do are Neon Tetras, Glow -Lite Tetras, Penguin Tetras ( all non swimming species), Pencilfish, Hatchetfish ( if you have a lid on the tank), smaller species of Plecos ( i.e. bristlenose if the hex is a larger volume) or any of the 3 dwarf cory cat species. If it's a larger Hex tank, a trio of Angelfish or Discus can be kept in a hex because they too do not really swim around much. In reality tho, as these mature, they all would be better in a larger volume of water in a longer tank.

Hope this helps. (y)

Awesome thank you so much! It was giving to me with 2 big Common Plecos, 1 Albino Rainbow Shark and 1 Pictus Catfish.......... Knew right away the stocking options the previous owner chose was very poor ... So I rehomed them all to bigger better tank where they would be much happier:) Now just working on finding the appropriate kinds of fish for it :) Looks like I'm going to go with a nano tank kinda deal haha

Yeah, I totally forgot about all the nano fish species. ;) Those species would definitely make a nice tank. (y)(y)
