i have a 90 gal. tank and planing on adding a 3"red ear slidder to it. i was just wondering with added waste, is a marineland magnum350 pro with bio wheel, going to pull its duty? anyone else have a turtle tank? or no of any links? any help much appreciated! thanks.

slider tank

as long as you change the water every 8-10 days you should be fine or if you don't want too change it that often take the turtle out and get a smaller tank like a 10 gal just to feed her in
Thats whats messy.
leave her in the tank for about 30min just so she can eat and make her mess
then put her back in the big tank and just dump the dirty water of the little tank

I have had my turtle for 2 years and she is a big girl, I have her in my tank with three goldfish and my tank is always nice and clean.
It's so easy to take care of, and she is so intresting to watch.
Make sure your turtle has a nice basking ramp and lamp, thats very important without that she won't be happy

I had turtles for 12 years, each got to about 12" (from less than 1") when I decided to give them up and I sold them to the LFS (even though in Nova Scotia it is illegal to keep/sell turtles ???). Withing a few days they got a new owner together.

IME they really don't need any filtration as long as you keep the tank clean, gravel vac very often, huge water changes don't desturb them aslong as the temp is kept constant. Also, sliders will eat any or all fish, no matter the size so they should be kept alone or with their own kind. I would often treat my turtles to feeder goldfish and beef heart they adored it also they will eat any bugs you find in you back yard (and if you kill a house fly plop it in).

*also take him outside and let him walk on grass, they love to explore and they cant really get away.

Capt Gorilla, it's illegal in Ontario too. Too bad, I miss keeping turtles. Be careful about letting them walk on the grass though - mine somehow got away (my dad was supposed to be turtle-sitting) went down the road, a neighbour reported it, and I had to go bail her out for $10 at the Humane Society.

They are really easy to keep though. Mine ate just about anything (hated something though, I think it was cucumbers). Just remember to keep that tank clean - they get awful stinky!

I currently have a RES in a 29 gal. tank. I don't know if your filter will work or not. The filter we started out with was the HOB that came with the tank (WalMart package deal). I got tired of hearing the mini waterfall, and the filter really didn't seem to keep the water looking clean. I looked around and found this

Now my water is crystal clear, and I think the current it creates also gives my turtle more exercise.

I have a Southern Painted in a 50 gallon with 4 extreamly large goldfish and a few other things...
I had a duetto internal filet and it just was not working.
I ended up getting a Eheim 2026 and it is awesome!! I love it.
A great turtle site and there is even a filtration section is:
