added some base rock...looks like weeds are growin on them

I bought about 10 lbs of dry base rock yesterday and noticed some type of vegetation attached to it. It looks like some type of grass but I'm no botanist. My question is:

1. will this stuff come back to life?
2. will the base rock that I bought dry go through a curing process?

Where did the base rock come from? Any chance on getting a pic?

I have no idea about the orgins of the rock. It has probably been stored dry for a few weeks if that helps any. I'll get pics as soon as I get a chance.

if it was dry I dought anything could live on lock out of the water. Could it have been real grass or a weed growing on it?
