Yeah, I'm usually pretty smart about stuff like that, but this one tricked me. I clicked on it, and then clicked on "yes" to install(DOH!). It infected my system with so much spyware and crap it wasn't even funny. I think I got rid of all of it, but every so often something pops up. I'm probably going to have to do a full reformat.

I had good luck with the 3rd removal program, the trojan one. I usually use mozilla to prevent this kind of thing, but IE is still the default browser unfortunately.

Get ad-aware and spybot, those should take care of most of your problems. Also make sure you immunize with spybot and keep your IE updated.

I have a basic virus/wurm question since you're on the topic. I recently downloaded a file that wouldt let me delete it. so I scanned and found nothing with updated norton. since sometimes it takes a few days for norton to update new threats I reformated my computer back to factory settings. is there any virus/wurm that can survive a complete system reboot?

Did you restore default settings, or did you format it and reinstall? Restoring factory settings, I think it could. If you did a full format no. A full format takes your drive and turns everything into a 0.

I believe I format and reinstal. Thanks thats good to know

the only way it could survive would be if it stayed in resident memory. If there was a memory resident virus then turning the system off and back on would clear that aswell.
