All my 4 tanks have 0 Nitrates

All my 4 tanks have 0 Nitrates. Is this good or bad? The fish tanks I own have 0 ammonia and 0 Nitrates. Is this bad for my fish? One tank I have for 5 months and it is still 0 nitrates and O ammonia. I do have a pad in my filter that is for Nitrates. In all my tanks. I did shake the bottle well before I tested the tank water.

If you don't have live plants, 0 nitrates is wonderful. If you have live plants, they need that nitrate to feed on.
