Angelfish loses food through gill injury

He got hurt on the rocks during a disagreement and has been in the QT for 2 months and although some healing took place after 2 rounds of kanaplex, he is not healing completely. He is always hungry because food escapes out his gill. His gill plate has a hole in it. Anybody have any experience with something like this? He eats flakes, dried bloodworms and refuses brine shrimp. I know he misses the community tank 55 g. The QT is 30 g. I don’t know what else to do.

A hole like that can take many months to heal so the best you can do is keep his water clean, his diet top quality and don't put any other fish in his tank that can peck at that injury and make it worse. What you can add is some liquid vitamins to either the food or the tank water to help expedite the healing. Make sure you feed the fish multiple times per day and siphoning out whatever food he misses after a few hours after feeding.
