Aquarium Chiller

Hi! I've got a chiller that came with a setup that I bought, the person I bought it from said it hasnt been kicking on correctly. How can I test it withought actually setting it up to a system? Can I just drop the coil in a bucket and test it that way?

maybe take the temperature before and after your turn it on, too.
