Hi, my current lighting for my 10 gal tank is falling apart, so I was looking into full aquarium hoods. I noticed that All-glass creates one that is pretty reasonable in price, but I noticed that Petco has a safety instructions for full hoods which says "This appliance was designed for use over a glass aquarium cover or panel. Do not use over "open" water. Moisture from the aquarium will collect on exposed light parts and may cause a shock hazard and/or damage the light. This appliance is intended for household use only."

So, do we need to purchase a glass cover and a full hood? any suggestions for more economical cover and lighting would be great too. I don't have any live plants... just fake. Thanks in advance for the clarifications.

A "full hood" comes with a plexiglass plate that sits below the light. This protects the light from the water.

If you get just the light fixture for the top of the tank, then you have to buy a glass cover for the tank, too. This is usually preferable for ppl who may want to change their lighting in the future to have plants, a reef, actinic bulbs etc.
