If I did my research right..

arn't armored catfishes a species of Suckerfish/pl*co [ I know pl*co's are catfish, but not all have that sucker mouth.. ]

The reason I ask, is because I got word there was an infestation of armored catfish in a local spring, like someone had released a few from their fishtank into the springs or whatever, and that they've recently taken over and are in need of being removed.

Heh, the plecs have been in the Florida water ways for ages. Way back when, people were releasing them and they do VERY well in those nice warm waters. The gibbies are fairly well established down there, and plecs inhabit the Kissimee river in decent numbers. The plecs have also invaded Hawaii and Texas as well.

Now they may not be talking about plecs, but the Brown Hoplo, which is also known as the armoured catfish.

Some info here on both (scroll down for the hoplo) if you're interested: http://floridafisheries.com/fishes/non-native.html#suckers

Yum. Fish *grin*

Whoa...DISCUS? Fussy, sensitive, better have your water parameters right or else we'll die discus in nasty Fla waters? Whoa.

What I meant were discus in colorado. I forget where I heard about them, not entirely sure if it is true or not.

*edit

It turns out I am an idiot and there is a very good discus hatchery, not wild discus in colorado.
