They would be 2 different species. Hybrid tangs are a mix of 2 species so not one of their own. Scopas tangs are a separate specie. The real test is price. The black tang is actually a " Longnosed black tang" and is usually very expensive. Scopas tangs are more common, much less expensive and darken up to a dark brown/ black color as they get older. If this is wild specimen, the snout should be longer on the hybrid than on a scopas. If this is a manmade hybrid, all bets are off as to what they will look like. Ask your supplier what was mixed with the black tang.Is there a difference between Black Hybrid and the Scopas Tang? or is it a same species? Not really sure which one of it...
