Hi can someone help me. I have baby guppies and want to feed them brine shrimp but I hatched some out and now I can't find them. How large are they? There is a lot of stuff floating in the tank and some settled on the bottom. I followed the instructions and want to feed them but don't know how. I have some already 1 month old guppy babies and I have been feeding them first bites and flakes. They come to me and nibble on my finger when I put it in the tank (clean hands of course). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The newly hatched brine shrimp should be visibly moving in the hatchery. They are attracted to light, so try placing them on a sunny windowsill or near another bright light source. If you don't see anything moving, the eggs may not have hatched.

I had brine shrimp hatch once...but we didn't feed them to the fish...I think we called them Sea Monkeys...LOL Anyway, I had to use a magnifying glass to see them most of the time...you could see them, but if you didn't know what they were, you'd think they were dust particles.

My husband told me thats what they were.(sea monkeys) They do look like dust. If I can't see them I can't feed them to my fish and they are doing really well on first bites. I highly recommend them. Thanks

do exactly as voodoo chilli said or put them under a lamp.

Maybe I will try again. I bought 5 female guppies and everyone of them had babies. Got to get a bigger tank. Have one 12 and 2 five gallon.

What i do with my fry is get differant types of flakes and mix them together, and making sure there is a veg flake mixed in. Because live bearers love veg. I put it all in a clear plastic bag (small one ) and crush it all together. It is great for the little fry and they grow well on it. I also feed the daphnia and brineshrimp. There are prepared baby flake food out there but why buy that when you can make your own.

Brine Shrimp

I will do that. I really appreciate all the good advice everyone gave me. I haven't had any tanks in years and forgot all.

i also have baby fish and i feed them a mix of flake food and brine shrimp.... when i hatch them i use a small clear cup(like that you would by a betta in at wal-mart) i fill it a bout half full of hot water and put a bout 10 crystals of salt in the hot water and add eggs about as many as can fit on the top on a nickel or less and i put it on a window sill and get a eye droper full of hot water and add it to the cup to get any eggs off the side of the cup... it takes about 18-48 hours for them to hatch and the shells will fall to the bottom of the cup... and to get them out i just use an eye dropper to suck them out and squzee them out into the baby tank. hope that helps

I haven't seen how small first bites are, but I used to take pellets and put them in a ziplock bag and run a rolling pin over them until they were the consistency of dust. The fish loved it.

smart... I like that idea.

My brine shrimp hatched fine between 16 and 36 hours after I put them in salt water. I'm feeding them to my babies now. I did use a lamp to heat/light the shrimp, and it seems to have worked.

Here is an interesting idea, place a flashlight on one corner and once all the brine are in the corner use air tubing to sipon them out into a coffie filter lined net.
