Hello Everyone.

Question: Can I Reuse and Transform or re-enforce my 100L Turtle Tank to make it safe to be filled up ?

I intend to remove all the old silicone seals and Re-seal with a good aquarium silicone , but is it enough to withstand the water pressure?
Dimensions: 104x40x30 cm / The Glass Thickness is 5 mm .tartarugueira-tortum-100-preto.png

According to my glass thickness calculation tool, for your size aquarium, assuming it's 104cm long, 40cm wide, and 30cm high. You want at least 5mm glass to the front and sides and 6mm glass to the base.

If it's 104cm long, 40cm high and 30cm wide, you want at least 7mm glass to the front and sides and 10mm to the base.

So, if you reseal and you are the first size I'd look at the glass thickness of the base, and the front and sides are just about bang on. You are just under when a centre brace is needed, but considering your glass is bang on the minimum I'd get a brace cut and silicone that in to give you some surety.

If you are size 2, I wouldn't use it for an aquarium. Or at least wouldn't fill it more than you have for your turtle.

Thank you soo much for your reply @Aiken Drum . I really appreciate it.

Yes my situation falls in your first calculations, and thank you for the calculation. So I will give it a go .

Just a couple more questions: Regarding my dimensions 104x40x30 cm and a Glass Thickness of 5 mm .

. How thick a glass brace would you recommend?
. Probably put Two on Top and Two on the bottom?
. Would you use the normal aquarium silicone to glue the brace to the aquarium? ( Will be using this Silicone Silirub AQ | Soudal )

Thank you Very much.

I would use the same thickness glass as your aquarium. Maybe 50mm wide, cut to the width of your aquarium. Fit it at the top just below your frame in the centre to prevent any bowing. Aquarium silicone will give you the strongest glass to glass bond.

With the tank being framed, the brace probably isn't necessary, but better safe than sorry.
