Can i run FX5 without exterior foam pads?

Just got an amazing deal on an fx5! It didn't come with any media though. I have a 305 and a cascade 1000 so I'm transferring that media to the fx5. All I need to buy are the 6 foam filter pads that go around the outside of the media baskets. My LFS won't have these until next weekend.

Can I run it now without them until next weekend or should I just be patient and wait to swap the filters until they come in?

Run the canister with pads
Or don't run it with nothing inside.

If you just leave put the media in there without the pads, then you'll trap a lot of detritus in the media. You'll end up cleaning the media sooner rather than later.

Patience comes with experience.
