Hey all I'm new to this site. I have a 55gal tank that currently I plan to put 5 Yellow Labs and 5 Electric Blue Cichlids in. But I'm looking for a centerpiece. A saw a site recommend a red tailed shark but other sites say they are aggressive. What do you guys think would be good options? Medium-heavy flow on my filter.

Because you are going all African cichlids, I'd forget the " Centerpiece" idea since all the fish are going to be different levels of aggressiveness. You also have the water requirement issue with a RT shark. They prefer softer water with a more neutral pH while the Cichlids need higher pH and harder water. Your best move (IMO) is to research fish that also come from the same lakes as the fish you have ( i.e. synodondtis cats, African shark, etc) or want to have and add one or some of those. (y)

My centerpiece was suppose to be a Carpintis (pic below) with a handful of Clown Loaches for detritus scavenging. The way it's going, the CLs are taking center stage. The Carpintis is finding their activity very intrusive to the point that she has to stay on her game to get food.
