Aquarium Advice Freak
Hi There!
We found a great deal on cl last night; $40 and it came with the aquarium, cabinet base, lighted hood, filter, heater, syphon, and some decorations, water conditioners, etc.
Now we'll need your help to put it all together to get it up and running smoothly. Please let us know what other equipment or upgrades we will need.
We'd like to spray paint the background. Any suggestions for paint that would work well for this?
We have 45 pounds of live sand; is this enough, or too much?
Equipment:
* 30 gal. aquarium (36" long X 19" high X 12" deep)
* fluorescent (T8) lighted hood to fit (single bulb)
* Fluval 204 (says it's rated for 40 gal.) - What should go into the media baskets? Also, the sponges are a burnt orange color - should we replace them?
* We also have a HOB Whisper 60 kicking around that we can add for extra filtration, if you think we should.
* Tronic 200 watt heater
* We also have a Eheim Jager 175 watt heater kicking around. Is that a better heater or should we use both?
