If you are doing daily water changes then it makes sense for the ammonia to be low because your water changes are removing the ammonia. What's the nitrite and nitrate like?
Going forward, keep testing daily. If you have detectable ammonia or nitrite change half the water. If you are seeing zero ammonia and nitrite then no need for a water change. If you are consistently seeing zero ammonia and nitrite over a week or so, your cycle has established and you can go back to your regular water change schedule.
As for the sliminess. Manually remove it. Wipe down glass surfaces, brush it off any leafs, remove aquascape and thoroughly rinse it off before returning it, if the slime is on your substrate, syphon it out with your water change. Make sure you don't leave any uneaten food in the aquarium for too long. If you keep up with manual removal it should eventually stop coming back.
