Hi, This is a seasoned 40gal tank. Up for 8 years Last week Monday I kind of did a no no. I cleaned my canister filters and new Clearmax. I have done this before without any water problems. I put about 10 gal of water in and the tank became cloudy. Thinking it will clear up I didn't worry about it. But the tank didn't clear. So I bought API Accuclear. That was Friday last week. Monday it never cleared. So thinking the filter wasn't working right I tore it down and restarted it. Today Tuesday it is still cloudy. I did not put anymore API in the tank. The fish and water checks out good. Strange thing I tore the 40gal next to it last Monday just like the other one and it is very clear. What is going on?

Most likely a bacterial bloom. If you over cleaned the filter, this is a common reaction. It may take a couple of weeks to clear but should clear naturally. As long as the fish are not showing signs of stress, I wouldn't worry. (y)
