cycling with a shrimp?

Should I remove the shell :?: it's been in there for 5 days now. The tank is starting to become "aromatic" so I assume it has begun to cycle. I'll test on the 7th day. thanks for the info...
 
Nah...leave the shell on it if you want...won't hurt anything. If you are starting to get a smell, I'm betting you'll have ammonia in there already. I'd go ahead and test for it if I were you.
 
as soon as you see a good ammonia spike, feel free to remove the shrimp and air out your house :lol:
