I just bought a 20 gallon tank to quarantine my 7 juvenile discus that purchased online. I need help setting it up. I have everything I need a filter, air stone, heater. I’m gonna keep it bare bottom. I need helping knowing what medications I need. How often do I do water changes. How long do I have to quarantine them?

Definitely read my thread about the different tanks but as for medications, are these wild fish or domestic fish? Were they farm bred or did you get them from a private breeder? These answers will help figure out what meds you may need. (y)

Domestic fish from a private breeder. The website was theifishstore.com

I just went to their site and I'm not sure they are from a private breeder as they are doing quarantining themselves. They are probably from a Discus farm. With that, I would say to just keep the fish in the quarantine tank for a minimum of 4 weeks so that if there are injuries from shipping, they should show within a couple of weeks. If they were too stressed during shipping, ick should appear within the first 7-10 days. So I would have a good ick medication on hand and any other medicine would depend on your water pH and what exactly the infection is. These meds should be purchased at a store instead of online so that you can be sure you are getting fresher meds or ones furthest from their expiration dates. I would contact the seller to see if they dewormed the fish and if they didn't, you want to get a dewormer such as Fritz Expel-P or any med that contains levamisole hydrochloride. With all the fish they are offering, I suspect they are getting farmed fish so their " purity" is a question for me.

Hope this helps (y)
