My gourami has a little red thing on the base of one of her pectoral fins, and I dont know what it is. I drew a picture but I dont know if it will help - http://members.shaw.ca/fishfotos/untitled.bmp
Then I noticed one of my tiger barbs (I have 8) had a red spot around his nose. Looks like he ahs a bleeding nose or something. But maybe its just a wound from a fight with another barb? I dont know if they are related.
My problem is that I can't hospitalize anyone because I dont have a hospital/qt tank.

Heya End? Most folks won't want to download a file (I know I don't), so I kinda doubt people will see the pic.

Can you give an exact description of the red thing? I think you said it looked like it was IN the fin?

Oh and what were the water parameters?

Ok, I posted the pic on my main website now. I just drew what it looked like onto a previous picture of the gourami. When I fed them this evening, he didn't come up to the top to eat, which he usually does. I hope somebody can help :(

Sorry End; its just not descriptive enough. Just looks like someone took a red marker to the fish. Doesn't show the exact shape, color or anything we'd need to figure out what it is.

Keep an eye on that sore spot on your Gourami and watch for the appearance of a tiny, thread-like structure. I know for those of you reading some of my previous posts that it might appear that I have a fixation with 'anchor worms' but I've seen quite a few gouramis lately in multiple fish stores that are infested with the darned things. When I first got my gouramis I noticed what looked like a red sore underneath the skin. I mistakenly presumed it was just some net damage that the fish had gotten during capture at the lfs. It wasn't until about a week later (by this time all three gouramis had red sores) that I noticed the thread-like body of the 'anchor worms' sticking out of one of the fish.

By the time I got a good treatment regimen started, one of the poor females had so many 'anchor worms' sticking out of her that she looked almost hairy! Fortunately the Parasite Clear that I used worked as advertised and I got rid of the little copepod pests without losing a fish. Oh....the darned little monsters never did show up on my Tiger Barbs that were in the same tank but they did a LOT of flashing during the infestation and I can only assume that the vicious little parasites were trying to infect the Tiger Barbs too!

I'm very worried now, he has turned a very deep blue. As you can see in the picture, hes sort of marbled. The darker spots have become very dark and he isn't moving around very much. Poor little fella. Water params are normal (amm:0, rites: 0-.1, rates:10). I'll keep you guys updated
