I have had a couple frogs over the years. My Dwarf African Frog was a finiky eater and took a while to determine his best diet as each one seems to have individual taste. But bloodworms seem to work in most cases, just not mine. Also, these guys are defeseless and will be eaten by agressive fish (including tiger barbs, as I found out when I merged him to a tank with tiger barbs after he got a little older).

African Clawed frogs live a long time, although they will go after smaller fish and are incredible escape artists (throw in a crab in your FW and see who can escape through that small hole more often).

I hate to be a whiner but I wonder if you fellows that use this type of chat room shorthand would mind taking the extra time to write out the whole words? It makes it much easier to read when written out. Since this is not live chat which requires the use of shorthand, I wonder if it would not be too much trouble?

Thanks,
Mark

I have frogs!!!!

I have 6 african dwarf frogs in my community tank, they are the most commical things in there(next to the 2 weather loaches). They'll eat just about anything, but I find they really like specialty foods such as "frog bites" by HBH. Best to get them very small and almost black in colour so you can enjoy their growth. Mine have reached 1.5", which is about all they will ever get, now they are just expanding the other way, they are little pigs with a short temper. They will nip at any fish who bugs them(don't worry they can't harm anything), they like going under things, so make a lot of hiding places for them. They do dart up to the surface for air, so don't worry about that(kind of clumsy on their way down, usually smacking their nose on the bottom).
All in all, great fish to keep.
Good luck and happy frogging.

hey guys, I havent been here in a while but i have bad news. all my fish died with the terrible ICK. So now im going to clean out the tank, remove all the plants and decorations and start another fire-bellied toad tank. I will only have a few toads. I have had them before and they are very cool.

nice

they sound really nie to keep but do they need to come up for air or not? I f so do you have to have a specail kind of tank so they can get to the surface? :?:

African dwarf frogs do not need any landing to rest on, for the toads you need land and water, and have the water only be a few inches deep.
