I have had a few pieces of drift wood in a bucket with rain water outside for a few months. I now know where I am going to put them in. I am going to rinse them off. Can I put them in the tank right after? Or, have them sit in new water for a day or two just to make sure bugs are not attached to them? Thanks

Just letting it sit in new water for a few days won't do anything to any bugs living in or on your wood. They will still be there in a few days, weeks or months.

If you wanted to soak the wood, soak it in hot water for 3 or 4 days, change the water for new hot water 3 or 4 times a day.

If you are particularly risk averse, boil the wood for an hour. That should kill off everything.
