My driftwood has been in the tank for fourteen months it is more of a twig than a limb. For what reason if any would you clean with a brush or replace it. Pleco still munches on it.

None. If the pleco is eating it, leave it for him. You can add another piece now for looks or as another food source that will look pretty for a while.
