I got a juvenile Flowerhorn on sunday, he was swimming and eating until today 4 days later he looks like this and stopped eating. Can anyone tell me what is hanging from him?
Not from that picture. You need to get a clearer picture and since it's a dark fish on a dark substrate, add an arrow pointing to what you want identified.
It's hard to tell if that's a stringy poo or a parasitic worm because of the lumps in the thing. A white stringy poo can also occur when a fish stops eating. The first thing I would do is check your water parameters and compare them to the place you got the fish from. If they match or are relatively close to each other, I would place the fish in a bare bottom hospital tank and treat for internal worms. This is one medication where if there are no worms, the fish should not have any effects from the medicine.
If your water parameters do not match or are not close to the place you got the fish from, that could explain the loss of appetite and I would try to get your parameters closer to what the fish came from before doing any medicating.
