I found a biocube on craigs list, but the owner wants me if I will take one of the two fish inside the tank.

The one fish i'd be interested in, is the black clown fish.

The drive home with the aquarium and fish would be approx. 30 minutes

What can I have done at home to have things ready for Mr. Fish IF i decide this is something I can do? The seller is willing to sell me his live sand, which is suppose to help. But what would the procedure be for tanking a tank home with some water filled in it (not too much as I am a small lady) and acclimating the fish?

The guy suggests bringing a 5 gallon bucket (or two) and filling it with the saltwater from the tank. Bring the water, tank into the house and pour the salt water into the tank, then acclimate the fish.

I assume then I'd have to add cured rock to the tank (but before adding mr. fish and the water)

Sounds like a good deal. Be careful with the transport, make sure you have a test kit ready and some saltwater premixed incase you need to do a water change. I would also get some new sand. It might be cool to use some of his sand to add in, but I would not use all of his old sand, because you do not know what is in it and stirring up sand that has sat for a long time is not a good idea.

I would get some cured rock asap, too. Try and add the cured rock and sand, then acclimate the fish to the new water (which you should premix on your own, in my opinion). Then, test once or twice daily to make sure you are not seeing any ammonia in the water, but with cured rock and some livesand to seed, you shouldn't.

Oh and out of curiosity, what is the other fish? :)

The other fish is a blue damsel, i wasn't sure on taking the blue damsel

All of this is for $150 including the biocube stand.

Now i do want two clown fish, and from what i read, you can only put the same species of clowns (so i'd need to get another black one). Do i need to introduce both clown fish at the same time?

A few more questions:

1. Any particular type of sand (live sand, ect). he has the tank currently set-up, so should I still get new sand?

Oh and the tank exchange will happen on Monday. I am going out of town for business on friday and return sunday. I have monday off so I was going to get the LR (cured) and LR rubble along with the salt and testing kit on monday. Go pick-up the tank and fish monday night. Unless I need to scurry over to the store tonight, but I don't have a bucket to mix everything (and quite frankly I need to pack and relax before i go on my crazy trip)
