So ive added 8 Peppered Corydoras to my newly cycled aquarium. Happy to say they are doing really well. I will be introducing more fish as time goes on and want to give them a good varied diet of live, dried and frozen food.

I've got a pack of both mini and normal frozen bloodworm and want to try them tonight with my Cory's but just wondering on portion size. I'm anxious not to over feed but want them to get whey they need. Would you just defrost and give them all 1 cube or half a cube of the mini bloodworm?

I'm finding it all a bit of trial and error. Night 1 I gave them 4 algae wafers which was OK but they didn't seem to overly enjoyed them. Last night realising that 4 wafers was too much I put in 3 of the fish science tablets and again that was too much and I took 2 out but they thoroughly enjoyed them.

I also keep hearing that while frozen, they shouldn't have any bad bacteria etc, but sometimes bloodworm can be bad for fish cos of there exoskeleton or something, im not completely certain

Algae wafers aren't going to be a very good diet for corys. They aren't really algae eaters. While they will eat algae wafers it should be as part of a more varied diet. If I do throw in an algae wafer it's usually just one, and I have 30+ corys together in an aquarium.

Similar for bloodworms really. If I fed them they would be fed sparingly as a treat or supplement to a more complete diet. When I do feed bloodworms they rarely get to the bottom where the corys are feeding though.

Those fish science tablets are going to be better. I can't really see how big those tablets are from a photo, but the fishes stomach will be about the size of their eye, so that would give an estimate of how many tablets to feed, twice a day will help them grow properly. When you get other fish as long as some of the food is getting to the bottom they will find it. They are good foragers. You might try grinding a tablet down and scattering it about so they have to forage round for their food.

It's all a learning curve for me. I'm not sure why I thought wafers would be great for Cory's. Yeah the bloodworm is a once or twice treat for them. I've got some sinking pellets for them tomorrow to try.

Yeah the Cory's were completely disinterested in the bloodworm. I think maybe one had a bit of a chomp. Turkey basted the worms out and replaced with some pellets i got from Herons Food and that went down slightly better.

Bloodworms are not really " worms" so the Cories may not gorge themselves on them but they do serve a good purpose. The issue with the exoskeleton is that it's actually helpful for their digestion. It's the same as brine shrimp, daphnia or mysis shrimp. You will probably have better luck feeding things like black worms ( live or frozen), which are actual worms as well as shrimp based pellets.
On a side note, I was breeding C. sterbai and frozen bloodworms were a big part of their conditioning diet for spawning. Worked like a charm. ;) ;) (y)

Some other food options would be Repashy Bottom Scratcher and the Community Plus as they seem to go over big with corys.
