Going to finally order some LR this week

I think I'm going to order LR this week. I"m leaning towards the 45lb special on liveaquaria.com unless somebody has another affordable suggestion. Anyway I will only have this 45lbs in my 110G tank for now, do I need to worry about my fish eating everything off the rock and basically turning it to normal rock? I have a coral beauty, white cheek tang, bi-color blenny, 4 damsels, blue-dot puffer, 8 snails, about 15 tiny hermits, 2 star fish, a seacucumber, spiny urchin, 3 emerald crabs, and 5 peppermint shrimp.

BTW I was going to add the LR to my 50lbs of posur white rock but it would probably look pretty goofy so i'll probably take the normal rock out

the white rock will make an excellent base and will eventually blend in IMO

Be prepaired to cure your rock before putting that much in an established tank. The resulting ammonia spike could spell disaster since the rock comming to you will have some dieoff on it.

I belive the 45lbs for $99 does not include shipping so after shipping your up around $150lbs or so.

Yeah, I have a big rubber trash can I use for water changes and will use for curing the LR. I looked at liverock.com and I think for 45lb it was over 200 shipped. I want to get decent LR hopefully with as many hitchhickers as possible

I will probably just put my porus white rock in with, any idea how long it might take for the LR to spread and cover the other rock, 45lb LR, 45lb otehr rock

I just saw marinedepot has a special 44lbs for $150 shipped

I would say that I highly recommend the LR form liverocks.com It was extremely awesome Rock.. Mine was like 177.10 shipped across country to Oregon to PA it would probably be cheaper.. Very Minimal spike in water quality..

Sorry, must have looked at a wrong price 8O What does "aquaclutred rock" mean?

aquacultured rock is rock that has been placed in the ocean with the direct intent to sell as live rock. Fiji rock is acutally collected at the base of the coral reef where as its illegal to collect wild rock in the US so all the rock sold out of FL is aquaculture rock.

This rock has usually been in the ocean for a number of years prior to being collected.

Thanks guys! Think I'll check out there rock! So if I add say 44lbs to my 45lbs of normal rock over time(months, years?) it will grow on that too and all look the same. Wish I could afford more than 44lbs but I'm gonna order my MH's this week

How long it would take to have the normal rock look like the live rock will vary depending on your tank conditions but yes over time the normal rock will accumulate more and more corline algae as well as other things can migrate over to the normal rock and make it appear very simular to your live rock.

The rock you already have is probably already starting its migration to live rock as it shoudl have a healthy supply of bactera already living on/in the rock.

Just ordered 40lbs that will hopefully be here firday. I'll take some pics when I get it for you gusy I guess I'll be needing a ton more if I want to add corals etc in the next few months.
