Good morning everyone! I wanted to introduce myself 😊
Fish — both freshwater and saltwater — have always had a special place in my heart. I grew up with our family’s 55-gallon tank always running. We mostly kept goldfish, but sometimes bettas, feeder fish, and guppies found their way in too.
Now I’m taking over our tanks as my own hobby, since the rest of the family has gotten busy with life. I really enjoy researching fish care, and some say I have a gift for writing — so I’m hoping to share what I learn as I learn it. 💧
Right now, I’m getting ready to hatch brine shrimp again and I’m planning to add cherry shrimp, some snails, discus, and maybe a few others to my freshwater setups!
I need to do more research on snails...from experience which species would you recommend?
Have a wonderful day! 🌿🌊

Hi and welcome to the site. :flowers: If you have questions, feel free to ask them here. Not everything you read on the open internet is as complete or accurate as it could ( and should) be. :( ( There's a lot of misinformation online unfortunately. ) You also need to consider that what most technical sites with fish information are describing the wild caught fish while many of the fish we have available in the hobby now are farm raised so live in different water parameters than their wild ancestors. Always ask you fish source if the fish you are interested in are wild or farmed and it's safer not to mix the two for disease reasons.

Just an FYI, Shrimp and Discus are not a good combination if you expect to have shrimplettes and discus really like more current in their water than shrimp do. I'd rethink one of them.

As for the snails, it will depend on what you want the snails to do as to which type of snail you want to keep. Some are carnivores, some are vegetarian, some are omnivores, some can overpopulate a tank relatively quickly while others may lay tons of eggs but they won't hatch in freshwater.

Hope this helps. (y)

Thankyou for the tips! I will definitely be doing more research...
