i was at my dads buddys farm last night and saw a 30 galllon tank that was dumped there. I asked if i could have it and he said sure...ill be seting it up in early january

i want to plant it like crazy and i want
1 angelfish
4-5 corys
and i want something very clourful to top it off that active too

i was thinking a yellow lab...compatible????
or any other ideas???
i want lots of colourbt for sure and angel
any ideas

Yellow lab would most likely kill an angelfish in a matter of days if not hours.....and they are one of the more peacful africans 8O

Colorful....hmmm....you might consider Tiger Barbs. They can be fin nippers and, if your angelfish is one of the long-finned variety they wouldn't be a good choice, but they sure do look great in a school of 8 - 10!!

I take it you're going to ensure the tank is leak free before you atempt to start all this? fill'er up and leave it somewhere for a week outside or in a garage or something. If no leaks then okay.

After that, Whatever you get if you want colorful get a female betta. Personalities vary of course, but I've been lucky with mine and found a very peaceful female who enjoys living in my community 29gal.

it has no leaks because when we saw it it was full of water but its in my garage full of water...no leaks, no visible cracks

i dont think tigerbarbs would be goood with any angel

i was also thinking or blue rams...whats better german or bolivian???

I've had pretty good luck keeping Tiger Barbs with AngelFish in the past but only with the 'standard' Angels. However, I'm certainly not married to that suggestion. :) Have you considered some of the South American Tetras?? Rams are OK too (I have a sweet spot for all of the 'dwarf' cichlids) but they can get pretty rambunctious (no pun intended) during spawning and might do a bit of damage to your Angels.

I'd say any of the S.A. tetras over 2" (this leaves out neons, which may or may not start mysteriously disappearing). When dealing with any cichlid (including angels) you may find that aggression is a problem. Why not just have a few angels and the cories? That's the way my father-in-law's tank was before he gave it to me, and it was very impressive. He had Java Fern growing like crazy in the tank.

Yellow Labs come from Lake Malawi in Africa and have almost opposite needs of an Angel, so I would say no, don't do that.
