green algae!!!!!!

Hello everyone, my 55 is starting to get a kinda dark green algae only in the right front corner of my tank. I had it before in that area and I scooped it out and threw it out. Now it's back. It grows a little on the glass too. Any ideas of what it is and how to get rid of it. I use spring water for water changes, remora aqua-c skimmer, DSB and about 26 lbs. of LR. Salinity 1.023, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 5 or less.

Is it slimey and come off in sheets?

It's not really slimy, it is almost like a layer that kinda peels off the sand when I scoop it, it may be a little slimy.

Sounds like cyanobacteria, it is blue-green slime algae caused from increased nutients and low water flow. Increase your nutrient export, and decrease your nutrient import and increase waterflow.

The algae itself isn't harmful, just unsightly. In addition to what Kevin suggested, I would also suggest testing for phosphates...

It is considered a pest algae, it usually localizes itself to an area of low waterflow or an area that is leaching PO4. It does grow VERY fast and could overgrow and smother corals and inverts if you don't stay on top of it.
