My four serpae tetras appear to be suffering from some body fungus that I have been watching for about three weeks. Two of them have a small cottony growth on the side that is too big to be ich. One has wispy dark grey patches on the side and head. All of them have been eating and behaving normally, but since I have lost two serpaes to body fungus in the past, I decided to treat them proactively.
I transferred all the serpaes to my H-tank, did a 20% water change, and added MelaFix and PimaFix (5 ml ea to 10 gal). PimaFix is a reletively new product from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals that contains an extract from Pimenta racemosa. It is supposed to treat fungal infections as well as internal and external bacterial infections. It is also supposed to work synergistically with MelaFix to promote faster healing. Both drugs are supposed to be administered daily for one week. I will be performing daily water changes in the H-tank as well.
I'm just wondering if anybody has had any experience with this combination. I will keep everyone posted as the week progresses.
