I have a curly-que anemone that has outgrown my tank. (and ate my $30.00 fire shrimp!) My LFS said they would take it but I can't get him off the rock, I tried a credit card to no avail. Are there any tricks for this? I really don't want to have to kill it.

I have heard if you rub an ice cube on its foot it will let go? Otherwise chisel the rock!

take the rock with it ;)

I have also heard the ice trick, but you need to wrap the ice in a rag or something to prevent direct contact, direct contact with the ice will do almost as much damage as ripping it off the rock.

The rock is about 10 Lbs. and covered in thick purple coralline, and has an assortment of life on it, so that is definitely not an option. Ice it is, thanks guys.

Try placing some smaller rubble rock around it without smothering it and direct a PH at it's base. Not enough to cause it any damage, just enough flow to irritate it a bit. It should cause the anemone to move and hopefully onto one of the nearby loose rocks...

Cheers
Steve
