4 neons 4 glo-lights 3 ghost shrimp in a 5g?

i wasnt 2 sure but someone suggested it to me.. what would be a better set up? if that wouldnt work out.

looks like a little much to me. A "sorta" rule of thumb is 1" of fish body for every gallon! Are you going planted? If so, you can survive a little higher bio-load....if not I would say no more than 5 neons!! HTH! :)

For a 5G tank I would go with 2 Endlers or 2 Dwarf puffers or 1 Betta. Then you could still add 3 shrimp.

I'm not sure that you would want to put two dwarf puffers in there (but I'm not a puffer person).

I have kept puffers and 2 would be totally fine in a 5gal, but not anything else (mine lived with large ghost shrimp that I put in there as feeders but they did not eat them). I don't think the tetras you mention would be at all happy in a 5 gal, personally.

I keep Endler's in a 5-gal, and if you got males (they are barely 1/2inch long) it would make a pretty tank with some shrimp. Or you could get a betta, so basically I second Trenac's recommendation!

Yup...I agree...Tetras like lots of swimming room and they school so it wouldn't be practical for a 5g tank. I suggest a betta (and maybe shrimp? I don't know if they're compatible). Betta's do prefer some company...you may be okay with a betta and 2 otos, specially if you have live plants.

I have had a betta in a 3-gal with 3 white clouds (not the best fish for a small tank either) and there was not a bit of trouble, but when it comes to bettas every individual is different. You could put in a big ole snail, but of course then you will have 40 gazillion baby snails (I would not exaggerate in a million years) so you might not want to do that. I know lots of people who keep them with otocinclus, and since they are quiet, relatively inactive fish that might be a good choice, but it would be good to wait for some diatoms to form before getting them.
