Hi, I have already prepared a "coke bottle" 1.5 Litre for the kalk wasser, the pipe had already connected to the bottle, I had also mixed one tea spoon of kalk wasser to a 3.5 Litres pail, waiting for it to settle down before pouring into the bottle. Can any one teach me how to drip successfully? Will it increase my pH to an undesirable amount? I had a cooling fan blowing 24 hours a day (the temp is too high if I don't switch on the fan) and the evaporation rate is quite fast, so I'm thinking whether can I drip kalk wasser 24 hours non stop? Will it cause any abnormal effect like exccess calcium or high pH?

I use a handy dandy airline tubing and a airline gang valve to control the drip rate. I also use empty milkjugs for mixing/despensing my kalk.

Try to get a drip rate of 1 or so drips per sec.

Wow kreach, a very good article, easy to understand for newbie to kalk. Hmm, btw, the article wrote if lights are on 24hrs then is able to drip the kalk 24hrs, if my lights just on for 8 to 12 hrs a day, can I drip 24hrs? And one more question, I mixed the kalk yesterday in a 3.5 litre pail, and today I found a layer of chalky thing at the surface of the kalk mixture, yesterday I uses a book to cover the top of the pail, with still little holes, I don't know I have to air tight the pail, so can I still use the kalk mixture?

Sure you can drip over a 24 hour period. I belive (i have not read the article) that the 24hour lighting was refering to if you had a fuge under the tank and you reverse lit the fuge vs leaving the lights on the main tank on all the time.

Dont drip the white mixture at the bottom of the kalk and if you want you can gently skim off the top film.

I have access to empty I.V. bags (saline). Would this work if rinsed prior to the first drip?

The IV system will work so long as the hole is not in the bottom of the bag. Kalk has a sediment that settles at the bottom of the container. You will need to drip from the mid part of the container to avoid getting the sediment in your line. It is bad about cloggin up your drip line and it isnt good for the tank either.
