what is the best way to take pictures of a freshwater tank. i take pictures but my pictures come way bad if i try to take up close pictures of my koi

:(

any suggestions?

My pictures always come out best if I take them at night. I use the flash and make sure no other lights are on in the room except the fish tank lights. Always try to point the camera at a 45 degree angle....if you shoot straight you will get a glare/flash reflection off the back of the tank. Some recommend a tripod. I haven't tried that yet but I plan on it. Do not use your zoom unless you have a good camera. Whenever I use my zoom the pics are blurry. I think this has to do with aperature and depth of field but the pics are more clear with no zoom. Use macro mode if you have it. Most importantly take a million pics, that's where a digital really comes in handy. Out of 60 shots I generally like 3 and maybe only 1 is actually good. Hope that helps.

Your depth of field is almost infinate when you have "zoomed" out all the way. That's why your photo is clear. And you CAN take pictures straight onto the tank, but you have to turn off your flash. But you need fish that sit still or a really bright aquarium light.

Someone asked about this awhile back. HTH

There are several factors that come into play when focus is an issue. Usually the problem is just being too close.

i always take my pics at night. all lights off including my flash and leave just the aquariums lights on. this only works if you have flourecent lights. also if u want to take close up shots u have to make sure your macro is on. the macro usually looks like a little flower somewhere on your cam this will help with focusing on a certain object instead of always focusing on the backround. check out my tank pics in the gallery to get an idea of what it will turn out like.
