Ok, I have one cardinal left out of 9, he doesn't look well, and at $22 for four cardinals, I'm not buying any more even if he does survive. My hatchets and corys are fine. Today I'm going to start dropping the temp back to 75 and put carbon in the filter. How long should I wait before I add more fish?

I've got a question for you. I've been medicating my 12 gallon tank for 2 days now and theres still alot of ick on my fishies (5 rainbow tetras). How long did you medicate before it all went away. I run my aquarium at about 79 degrees..

Hrmm. Generally its 4-5 days post last sign of ich. I might give it a couple more to be safe since you've had SUCH a prob. Heh, and I might pass on cardinals for now; give it a few months until a new healthier batch hits the lfs. I am.

I'd continue to treat for at least another week. Ich is like dealing with fleas: you may kill all the adults, but you'll still have to deal with the unhatched eggs.

I just lost all 3 of my peacock bass to ich... I didn't look at the fish very good while they where in the store and I brought home 3 very cool fish each with a raging case of ich. Since these little beauties are hard to find I decided to fight for them. I lost them all to ich and one mystery snale to the rid ich, BUT my crazy giant danios carry on. :D

The best way I have found to treat ich is with Rid-Ich, doing daily water changes, then the regular dose. I continue this every day for at least 3-4 days after the last ich spot is gone, usually a solid week. I have even had shrimp survive this treatment, with all of the ich resolved and no fish loss.

Thanks for the advice...I'm going to continue to medicate and keep the temp up until Thursday and then start dropping it.
