My husband and I have 6 freshwater tanks of varius sizes. We have been dealing with fw tanks since we've been married. In the next 6 mo we plan to invest into a salt water aquaruim. Probably a small one since we are begginers. I know that there is alot that goes into them and we have alot of options. My question to you is: Does any one know of any good websites that we could learn our ABC's on salt water aquariums. Once we have that down then I plan to read through the forums about problems and so forth but as of right now they confuse me. Any help is much appriciated. Thanks! :D

Welcome to the best site on the internet for Saltwater info! Many of us on here have great knowledge and can help you with every aspect of the hobby....

Yes you are very right. This is an amazing website. I just know that there is alot of information and I dont think anyone wants to sit down and type "everything" to a beginner. I'm sure this post would get very long very quick. lol. Because to be honest we know absolutely nothing about salt water exept there is salt in it. Im not kidding. I am a baby in this subject and I'm learning from scratch.

I know you asked for a website, but I think that reading the book "The Marine Aquarium Guide - Beginner to Breeder" by Martin Moe is the best start you can get to this hobby. I picked up a copy for $6 on E-Bay a few months before I even bought my first aquarium and I still reference it at least once a week. It lays out everything you need to know in a very straightforward manner.

Other than that book, this is one of the best places Ive found for information. It all seems rather intimidating at first, but once you actually get into it, it really all seems to fall into place.

this site has a good getting started brief

Here is a good site for fish information

I hope this is some help

Have Fun!!

I also highly recommend "The Concientious Marine Aquarist" by Robert M. Fenner. This book covers pretty much all the basic info you'll need to know. It covers the different kinds of SW tanks you can do. It is also up to date.
On our home page here, you'll see a link for articles. I think you'll find them interesting reading as well. Especially read about the Berlin system of filtration.

In addition to what has already been suggested, I like "The Natural Reef Aquarium" by J. Tullock. Good book with lots of info on how to keep a reef tank the natural way without lots of extra gak.
