Found a 29 gal tank, with everything except heater (they had goldfish), hood, light, filter, air pump and air "toys", gravel & stand. The stand is like the ones sold a wally word, black with doors on the front. They want $75.00 for it. Should I snatch it up and take the heat from my wife or not? :?:

I would probably go for it if you are happy with the type of filter, type of lighting, etc. If the gravel is usable, i.e., boilable, the right size and color then you have yourself a ready-made setup. If you think you might have to replace the filter, buy new gravel, swap out lighting, etc. then it is probably too much to pay.

What'cha gonna put in it? :D

Yeah, I guess it depends on how much you will need to replace. If I found that deal and the stuff was pretty good then I would grab it right away.

Well I think it is a wally world "kit" so the filter is not a real good one but I have a penguin 170 that I could put on it. the lighting is probally fine, I'm not gonna put another $100.00 + into another light setup. Everything was cleaned and "set up" with no water or anything, just gravel, fake plants, & air toys. It's probally been empty 6 mo. sitting inside with nothing in it but the "display" stuff.

Well I went ahead and bought it, it does come with a heater and I was able to talk them down to $60.00. I'll let you know if anything needs replacing once I get it filled and tested. :D

Oooo u go boy! Wheeling and dealing; I love it *grin*

And it is a good deal at $60; Petsmart had a 10g with all the bits (heater, whisper filter, net, pump, but no gravel) for $50 over Xmas. Wish I found a deal like that here....I need another decent sized tank (and the space to put it in LOL).

Jeeez Allivymar....

You wouldn't be thinking of setting up a breeding tank for your Rams or Angels, would you??? :D

Just be sure to inspect the stand carefully. I believe those stands from walmart are usually fiberboard/pressed wood, whatever it's called. That kind of wood can easily become weak if it gets wet for any period of time. Just keep a close eye on it, and wipe up any spills ASAP. 60 beans, you got a good deal! :D

Yea, that pressed wood can be a pain. If it's been wet it'll got to the trash heap & I'll do something else for the stand.

LOL I stand corrected (and so does my post *grin*)

And how did you know Fruitbat? ;)

hey im jealous!! my 10 gal kit from walmart was $50 and the stand (i got for xmas was $25).. the walmart stand i got for mine is not wood tho its just metal... i havent set it up yet tho...

Well, I went and got it. every thing is practically brand new, It was bought in Sept. 2003. It's been empty about 2 months or better. They are smokers so everthing willl need a good cleaning but I think I got a very good deal.
