Hello!

Recently got some Julii Corydora from PetSmart. Two of the three I bought have died over the course of two days. The first one we brought to PetSmart and had the water tested. The said our ph was too low, other than that, all of the other parameters were excellent. We came home and found the second one died. The first was visibly ok and the second one has red splotches along both side of its body and on his head. We have been battling a recent outbreak of ich.

Edit: could this be disease or bullying from tank mates? Please let me know if i need to post on a different forum

There is an internal bacterial disease that many cory cats come in with. All Cories should be in a quarantine tank for at least 90 days before going into a main tank to see if they need to be treated for this issue. Julii also tend to be more fragile so proper water conditions are very important.
Lastly, you should not add fish to a tank with ick. The new fish will be under stress so definitely a prime target for the parasite to attack.

Hope this helps. (y)

This definitely helps. Any advice on what we should do to help the other corydoras? They don’t show any signs of this spotting. I would like to note we are working on a separate tank set up for the corys.

Julii like cooler water temps ( low to mid 70s, ) soft to mildly hard water and pH levels closer to neutral to slightly acidic. As for the red spots, they would need to be treated with an antibiotic. The right one will depend on you water's pH and Hardness.
