Keeping Rainbow Sharks

Hello. These fish are likely the most striking you'll find. The "Ruby Sharks" come in different colors, but all the ones I've kept or seen have red fins. While not a good fish for a beginner, they'll live well with most fish provided they grow up with them and you provide a large cave in the tank. If you keep more than one, you'll need to have another cave or even two. And, the caves need to be large. These fish will grow to more than six inches. Mine are three years old. Two are about three inches or more and one a bit more than two. No small tanks for these fish, you'll need a 55 gallon minimum. If you're interested in keeping them, I can give you some tips.

Yeah, the Rainbow as well as the Red Tail Shark get a bad rap for being overly aggressive. In most situations it's conspecific aggression.

As in most cases, proper research, planning and selecting compatible tankmates is usually the combination that leads to success.
