Lily pipes

I have co2. I was reading about lily pipes for surface agitation. I have rimmed tanks are most lily pipes for rimless. I don’t have much agitation on the surface should I angel the pipe from the canister up. Is a lilypipe nesesary.

You dont really want too much surface agitation when you are injecting CO2 as it just causes the CO2 to offgas and wastes it. In a CO2 injected planted aquarium oxygenation comes from high amounts of plant respiration consuming CO2 releasing O2 during the day. At night when the lights are off and respiration is working in reverse you want the CO2 off and airstones turned on to cause this agitation, promote gas exchange and oxygenate the aquarium from atmospheric O2.
