So I now have one fish hovering in the corner w/ a clamped dorsal fin. The guppy is oblivious as always, and the molly even charged a ghost shrimp I just got. Is she just asserting her rights as tank queen? And the clamped dorsal fin can be a sign of just stress, right? Not just disease? (PLEASE don't make me go thru ich treatment again!!!) Would I be doing the stressed fish a favor if I take it back to the lfs, or will things settle down in the tiny tank? I did just do a water change and added new plants to replace the free plant I killed. Of course I kill the free plant...! BTW, I got a snail (a ramshorn, I guess, but the lfs just had them labeled as "assorted snails") and that thing is HUGE! It's bigger than the molly! And more fascinating than I would have thought.

Hey Jen, is the clamped fin fish new? If so, was it QT?

I ask because clamped fins can be caused by stress as well as disease. Also, if you eradicated ich fully it should not rear its ugly head again UNLESS its reintroduced, which can happen when adding fish that haven't been QT.

Is queen Molly stressing the heck out of the fish with her dominance plays? If not, what else could be causing the stress? You want to reduce that stress as much as possible, as stressed fish are fish susceptible to disease!

The fish w/ the clamped fin is not new. Got her the same time as the molly. I guess she's decided she's come into her own. All hail queen molly! I'll keep an eye on the stressed fish and if the bully is too much, she can go back to the lfs.

I got 3 mollies a while ago (1 male and 2 females). The 2 females beat the heck out of the male 8O I had to QT him for a while cuz they ate his tail! Poor guy was so stressed out. I put him back in with them after about a week and the seem to be doing okay now. His tail is even growing back. They are somewhat aggressive towards the others but I think the angels finally put them in their place  because they seem to all be one big happy family now.
