I got a peppermint shrimp about four days ago. This is my first shrimp expedition. I noticed it wedged between two pieces of LR yesterday, and thought it was dead. But today I thought, the shell was completely clear, so maybe it just molted. Would a dead shrimp still have color? Or so I have no idea whether or not it is dead until I see it again? It had been at the LFS for a few weeks. Peppermints are not a big seller here.

Someone help...............please.

mine does the same thing,( i have two)when they molt. I dont see them for a couple of days. when i do see them again their colors are much brighter.

The shell will still have a little color to it. After they molt they hide for a couple of days so the "new skin" can harden. As long as there are no shrimp guts, as RR put it, inside of it, it should be fine. I also heard that was a sign of good water if they molt.

This was my first shrimp, so now that i am over the shock of molting, maybe all will be well!
