Okay...as many of you know, we just finished building a house. We are closing on the 14th :multi: which means I have to move the tank. Which means....I get to re-scape it. Now..I just re-scaped it like two months ago. I did this knowing that I would be moving soon and used it as a trial run. I loved the results, but feel that I can do better.

Now...what I have to work with. We are breaking down the 120 and moving most of it into the 175gal. That means that I have over 550 pounds of live rock to work with! (oh...we will also be selling off some rock for those in the dallas area that might be interested.)

Anyway...what I was thinking is that I would use pvc as the base, but instead of creating a rack for it to sit on...Think more of a flag pole. Then anchor the rock to it with zip ties and epoxy. Obviously the largest pieces would be a the bottom for the most support. I could even put an arm on it at a 45degree angle (up) for a shelf.

What does everyone think?

How much rock are you giong to be selling, and how much for it??? Would be verrrrry interrested. Let me know email at twood (at) rtrengineers (dot)com. Any other thing selling let me know too. I'm just starting in the hobby and itching for more.

I have fish now that would love some rock. :D

Well..I currently have about 350lbs in my 175 and the rest is in my 120. If I go with the set up that I want...Ill be selling about 120 pounds and prob in the neighbor hood of 3.50 a pound.

sounds great!! will try to talk wife into 20-30 lbs of the stuff. Would the rock be ready say may 22 weekend. I could tell my wife is't my birthday present  HEHEHE.
I have about 20 lbs right now and another 20-30 would top it off great.
TIA

i'm not sure I'm visualizing what your saying. Do you want to have your rock come up the tank like a... tree sort of?

yeah..more like a rock column.

I am just tired of the "shelf" that EVERYONE does.

you could do the column (or tree) or you could tie multiple trunks together to make a larger rock formation.

sounds like that would work ok. only concerne would be topple over of the column. what diameter of pvc?
how tall?
how many lbs of rock on a single pieceof pvc?
could maybe try a cone /\ for better stability.
