Date Ammonia Nitrite Nitrate
7/3 0 0 0 (shrimp was added)
7/5 ab 2 nt
7/6 ab 4 nt
7/7 ab 4 nt
7/9 8 6 nt
7/11 2 2 10
7/13 0 0 10 (shrimp is still in)

that is how my tests went with my fastest test kit....from what i can tell im cycled...it seemed to fast to me so i wanted to run it by u guys first...btw there is nothing but sand and equipment in the tank right now...base rock will be in tomorrow (got lost in delivery)...if im cycled im getting my clean up crew thurs.

Personally I would throw another shrimp in once the rock arrives. Since you're using base rock you want to populate it with as much bacteria as possible before adding livestock.

When I started with 30 gal, it cycled just as fast with the live rock and the live sand...I agree on the slow down on the stocking, it is quite tempting, read on livestock before u purchase, contemplate on upgrades to bigger tanks and deeper sand bed before putting any fish in. If you're happy with the size and sand depth, enjoy your more frequent visits to all your LFS... Good Luck. HTH

well atari i thought about that...but after i get my base rock set up im gonna get 10lbs of liverock so i think i will be alright w/o another shrimp, also i still have part of a shrimp in the tank right now and will leave it in until the lr comes in
