i've had some difficulty tonight tracking down the scientific name for the narrow leaf variety of java fern. some have it listed as "Microsorum brassii" and others have it listed as "Microsorum pteropus (narrow leaf)."

any insight as to which one is correct? is there a correct name?

also while we're on the topic of scientific names, what is the name for the dwarf sag? is it subulata or is there something else?

Most people still consider the 'narrow leaf' Java Fern to be a variety of Microsorium (Microsorum) pteropus but there IS the possibility that it is a separate species from New Guinea called Microsorium (Microsorum) brassii. There is no definitive decision at this point but I have a tendency to lean toward the first option because in my experience I've grown Java Fern with large leaves, intermediate leaves and relatively narrow leaves all from the same rhizome.

Dwarf Sag is Sagittaria subulata, as you've already stated.

I recently purchased some online, but they gave me such a small portion, it'll be months before I can tell if there is any visible difference to me. About 1/2 the order from that particular retailer was fair to poor size portions, not too pleased. Their pictures were quite misleading, and they were not very pleased with constructive criticism-type feedback.
