I have a 40g w/ a 10g sump. Started in May, added two Clowns, a Coral Banded Shrimp & diamond gobie in July & August. I also have two turbo snails.

The tank is doing great, parameters all good, everyone's happy & eating well !
I would love to add a bubble tip anenome. How can I tell if my tank is ready & will the gobie & shrimp be in danger? The shrimp hangs on the rocks, the gobie under...
Additionally, whether or not I go with the anenome, what other fish/inverts can I add?
Thanks
Ed

Whether you can add an anemone depends on your lighting. The recommended lighting must yield 220-350 PAR. If it's less than that ( as most basic lighting is) the anemone will not do well. This reading is more for reef tanks with LPS and stony corals.
As for will your shrimp and gobie be in danger?, if there is an anemone in the tank, the possibility exists that your other fish and inverts can be eaten. Even clownfish that have not gradually adapted to the anemone can be eaten ( although that rarely happens. ) So there is always a chance. If you want a guarantee, don't add an anemone. :(

As for other fish you can add, the list is long. The problem that can occur is that the clowns can be territorial so you really need to have a lot of decorations and hiding places so that new fish can have somewhere to call home without intruding on the clown's territory. Because the tank is only a 40, look for fish that are not super active swimmers ( i.e Tangs, Large Angelfish species, Drums, etc) like Grammas or dottybacks, small species of Anthias, Gobies like Firefish, Flame Gobies and the like, Swimming Blennies like Canary, Midas, Forktail, etc., Pigmy Angelfish species, ( see, the list is long. ;) ) just to name a few. Better to look and see what is available that you like then see if they will fit into your tank. (y)
